The purpose of this web page is to educate people regarding health and well being issues in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. These issues include casual sex, STDs, HIV/AIDS, relationship abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, codependency, mental health issues, and more.
Casual Sex
I have spent many hours chatting with both women and men online. Those conversations revealed that many people value casual sex. They did not seem to consider the possible consequences of such
encounters. Some of the possible consequences are obviously STDs,
AIDS/HIV, and Genital herpes. Most of these consequences can be avoided bye practicing safe sex. Safe sex includes the use of dental damns, latex gloves, condoms and lube. For more information on STDs and safe sex please click on the link below.
Domestic Violence In The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Communities
Every minute, six women/men are battered. Contrary to popular belief, sometimes same sex relationships do the beating. Like heterosexual abuse, lesbian and gay battering is a pattern of violent and coercive acts in which a person seeks to control the thoughts, beliefs, or conduct of her/his intimate partner or to punish the victim for resisting control. Below are links for sexual assault and child sexual abuse. For more information on these topics please click the links below
It is a well known fact that many people in our community abuse drugs and alcohol. For one reason or another. The next few links will discuss
the affects of drug and alcohol use/abuse, codependency, and mental health issues.
Some believe these are all connected in one way or another.
